Roshen

The Roshen Confectionery Corporation was established in 1996. Its name comes from the surname of the founder - Petro Poroshenko. Roshen is the largest confectionery manufacturer in Ukraine and one of the largest in Eastern Europe (it is one of the thirty largest manufacturers in the world). During the presidential campaign in 2014 Petro Poroshenko promised to get rid of his businesses. Roshen is one of the most important branches of his empire. However, he affirmed being the owner of the Roshen group in the electronic declaration in 2015. Roshen was helping the victims of the war in Donbas, but critics of the President pointed out that one of Roshen’s factories was operating in the ‘aggressor's territory’ - in Russia. The critics also added that the company's chain of stores has grown significantly in Ukraine since 2014.
