Joaquin Guzman Loera ‘El Chapo’

Joaquin Guzman Loera ‘El Chapo’ - born in 1957 in the state of Sinaloa. He comes from a poor family. His father was growing poppy seeds necessary to make heroin and opium which was sold by uncle Pedro. ‘El Chapo’ started to work with him. When uncle Pedro was shot, Joaquin became a member of the new Guadalajara cartel. In 1989, the head of the group Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo was imprisoned and ‘El Chapo’ took control of a part of the disintegrating organization. He transformed it into its own gang and called the Sinaloa cartel in honour of his native state.
