Further worsening of Polish-Ukrainian relations
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki statement during the meeting with the residents of Chelm on February 11 was a confirmation of the fact that further “unfriendly” steps against the neighbour state of Ukraine are possible. While describing Polish-Jewish relations, the Prime Minister mentioned Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky. Morawiecki attributed the first Holocaust of Jews during the Cossacks' uprising in 1648 to aforesaid Khmelnytsky. Obviously, it was met with negative reaction in Ukraine.
