El Chapo
American TV series produced by Netflix and Univision. It premiered in 2017. It tells a story of Joaquín Guzmán, the drug lord, also known as “El Chapo”. He was born in 1957 in the Mexican state of Sinaloa. He comes from a poor family - his father used to make a living cultivating poppy, a necessary ingredient for the production of heroin and opium. When Guzmán’s uncle, Pedro, who was selling these drugs was shot, Joaquin became a member of a new cartel in Guadalajara. In 1989, the ringleader of the group, Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo went to prison and „Chapo” took over the control over the organisation which was falling apart. He then transformed it into his own gang he called Sinaloa, to honor his own state. In the 90s, his criminal group started mass-scale drug smuggling to the United States. His gang built a network of air-conditioned and light-equipped tunnels, organised regular flights for planes used for smuggling and started using the cargo submarines. In 2011, Forbes ranked Guzmán number 1 in world’s richest people ranking. “El Chapo” is currently in the US, awaiting trial. https://content.outride.rsdzien-ktorym-poznalam-chapo/
