The city of Cancún is located in Mexico, in the northern part of the state of Quintana Roo, by the coast of the Caribbean Sea. The name probably comes from the word kaan kuum, which in the Maya language means "snakes’ nest". Today it is Mexico’s most popular holiday resort.
