The wall on the border between Syria and Turkey
The building of the wall started in 2014. It consists of seven-ton concrete blocks. Each of them is almost three metres high. There are also 120 guard towers, equipped with night-vision goggles, radars and weapons. The purpose of the wall is to stop the smuggling and refugees from Syria, who illegally cross the border. 781 of the total length of 828 kilometres of the wall were built by mid-December 2017. The construction is to be completed in spring of 2018. It will be the third longest wall in the world. Only the Great Wall of China and the border fencing between the USA and Mexico are longer.
