The city of Sloviansk
Sloviansk - a city in the Donetsk Oblast. It has more than 100,000 inhabitants. On April 12, 2014, it was taken by armed militants who came from Russia under the command of Igor Girkin (Strelkov). The flag of Russia was hung on the City Council building. On April 25, 2014, Ukrainian forces surrounded Sloviansk and an unsuccessful assault of of the city took place on May 2. The siege lasted until July 5, when pro-Russian fighters withdrew from Sloviansk heading to Donetsk.
