Priscila Pacheco

Priscila Pacheco is a Brazilian journalist based in São Paulo. She has experience with hyperlocal journalism on the outskirts of São Paulo. She is the author of the comic "Minas da Várzea", co-author of the book "Unbias the news: why diversity matters for journalism" and ambassador of Hostwriter. Besides, in 2019 she was one of the journalists selected to participate in the workshop on solutions journalism at the Gabo Foundation in Colombia.
The COVID-19 arrived in Brazil through the upper class but has spread like wildfire throughout the poorest communities. This is the story of the grassroots initiatives that were launched by the residents of three favelas in São Paulo to face the problems caused or exacerbated by the pandemic.
