2014 Revolution of Dignity

This term is often used alternatively with Euromaidan. It describes street protests in Ukraine that lasted from November 2013 to February 2014. However, it is often underlined that the initial protest was named Euromaidan. It was a reaction to the failure to sign the Association Agreement with the European Union by the then President Viktor Yanukovych. Later the Euromaidan transformed into a Revolution of Dignity because of the use of force by the then Ukrainian authorities. The slogans of European integration were replaced by the slogans of fight against corrupt, authoritarian powers. The first victims of clashes appeared in January 2014. Most people were killed between 18-20 February 2014. In total, 128 people died and almost three thousand were injured.
