Yarmouk

Nearly 140,000 people had lived there before the war started. Yarmouk is located 8 km south of the centre of Damascus. It is inhabited mostly by the Palestinians. It was established in 1957 as a refugee camp, hence the name “Al-Yarmouk” camp is often mentioned. Over time, it became a part of the capital. Initially the Free Syrian Army had taken control over Yarmouk and in 2015 it was taken by ISIS.
