The case of Odebrecht company

On December 21st 2016, the US Department of Justice published the results of an investigation on the activity of the Brazilian construction company Odebrecht. The investigators have gathered evidence proving that in the last 20 years the company has given 788 million US dollars in bribes to politicians in 12 countries, specifically: Brazil, Angola, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Mozambique, Panama, Peru, Dominican Republic and Venezuela. In exchange, the company would receive state contracts. It is the biggest corruption scandal in South America. In Peru alone, the company has given 19 million US dollars in bribes.
