Shining Path

A Peruvian political and military organization considered to be the terrorist organization as well. Established in the 1970s. The Shining Path began its armed activity on May 17, 1980, on the day of the presidential election. They demolished and burned ballot boxes at the polling station. In the following years, they have begun to kill and plunder people in the name of social justice. They often destroyed government facilities. Alberto Fujimori began to fight with the Shining Path with the support of the American special service. In 2003 the organization had about 20,000 partisans. It was estimated that there were only 300 of them in 2016.
