Kobane

Kobane is located very close to the border with Turkey. The exact number of its citizens is unknown, most likely it is around 200,000 (approximately half of its pre-war population). Between 2014-2015 Kobane witnessed fierce fighting between the ISIS forces and the Kurdish militias, supported from the air by the United States. As a result of the clashes, a significant part of the city was destroyed.
