Ziemowit Coal Mine

Silesia

Its construction began in 1944, and coal mining started six years later. In 1972, the mine was connected with the Piast Coal Mine, which is how the Ziemowit Coal Mine was established. It is one of the largest mines in Poland and Europe and extracts up to 16 000 tons of coal daily.

The European Union, associated with the policy of open borders, is currently surrounded by over 2,000 kilometers of border fences.
