Knurów Coal Mine

It was established in 1903 in Knurów on the initiative of Gustav von Velsen, a ministerial director at the Department of Mining in Berlin. At the end of World War II, 73 miners saved this mine from flooding planned by the Germans. In 2019, it was connected with the Szczygłowice Coal Mine.

The European Union, associated with the policy of open borders, is currently surrounded by over 2,000 kilometers of border fences.
