Katowice Coal Mine

Silesia

Currently, the Silesian Museum operates on the site of the former mine. Its attraction is the tower of the Warszawa shaft. From the viewing platform on its top, you can admire the panorama of Silesia. The museum is close to the International Congress Centre and the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra. On July 15, 1936, it was given the name Katowice Coal Mine. Before, it had operated as Ferdinand Coal Mine, a name given in 1823. In 1973, the mine was awarded the First class Order of the Banner of Labor.

The European Union, associated with the policy of open borders, is currently surrounded by over 2,000 kilometers of border fences.
