Halemba Coal Mine

It is the first mine built in Poland after World War II. Today, it is part of the Ruda combined mine. Its construction began in 1943. After the war, work resumed and lasted until 1950, while the official opening of the mine took place on July 1, 1957. In 2006, 23 people died due to a methane explosion.

The European Union, associated with the policy of open borders, is currently surrounded by over 2,000 kilometers of border fences.
