Centrum Coal Mine

Silesia

Its beginnings date back to the Teresa Coal Mine, a calamine mine of, i.e. oxidised zinc ores. At the end of the 1850s, it switched to coal. In operation since December 1879, it was officially established on December 1, 1881, under the name Vereinigte Karsten-Centrum Coal Mine. In 1993, it was merged with Szombierki Coal Mine, and in 2005 it was merged with Bobrek Coal Mine. The mine was put into liquidation in 2015.

The European Union, associated with the policy of open borders, is currently surrounded by over 2,000 kilometers of border fences.
