Bolesław Śmiały Coal Mine

Silesia

One of the oldest mines in Poland, located in Łaziska Górne. The first records date back to 1779 and the Szczęście Henryka Coal Mine, which began to operate in the present-day mining area after merging some smaller coal mines. From 1945, the entire mine was called Bolesław Śmiały Coal Mine. In 2003–2016, it belonged to Kompania Węglowa S.A., and since 2016 it has been part of the Polish Mining Group. A conveyor belt connects it to the Łaziska Power Station.

29.37 kilometers – at the time of writing this report, separating Kramatorsk, the temporary capital of the Donetsk Oblast, from the front line. One third of the 220,000 inhabitants remained. In the deserted city you can see mostly soldiers. They head to the front or return from it to rest for a while. The fate of Kramatorsk and eastern Ukraine depends on the outcome of fierce fighting. Military trucks and heavy equipment rush to nearby Bakhmut every day.
